The course is accredited by Pearson BTEC Level 2 in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver (QCF). Upon successful completion, you’ll have the confidence and certification to apply for your taxi licence and step into the world of professional driving.
Course Requirement
No formal qualifications are necessary but a minimum entry 3 level of literacy is required (the ability to read and write basic English).

What Will You Achieve?
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver. This qualification is your official introduction to the taxi and private hire sector and will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to provide professional services.
Furthermore, upon achieving this qualification, you’ll automatically be registered with EDEXCEL on the National Register of Taxi and Private Hire Drivers, which is managed by People First, the UK’s skills council for hospitality, passenger transport, travel, and tourism. This registration gives you the recognition and credibility you need to work within the industry.
How Will You Be Assessed?
The course is structured around nine core units, each of which is assessed through an online test. The tests are administered by the awarding body and are scheduled in collaboration with your tutor to fit your learning needs. You’ll receive support throughout the process to ensure you’re fully prepared.
You’ll be given three free re-sits for each unit should you need another attempt. After that, there will be a nominal fee of £25 per session for additional re-sits.
Please remember, you will need to bring photographic identification (either your passport or full driving licence) when taking any exam.
Follow-up Courses & Progression
After completing this course, you may wish to further develop your skills with the NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving (Taxi and Private Hire). This qualification is ideal for those looking to deepen their knowledge and gain further credentials in the passenger transport industry.

Re-sits and Exam Fees
Each unit is assessed through an online test, and you’re allowed three free re-sits for any unit that you may not pass on your first attempt. If you require further re-sits beyond these, a small fee of £25 per session will apply.
