The SIA Top-Up Training course is designed for existing Door Supervisor licence holders who need to renew their qualifications. If your SIA Door Supervisor Licence is due for renewal or you hold a pre-1st April 2021 qualification, this essential course is a mandatory step to complete before you can renew your licence.

This course provides a refresher on crucial areas of security work and updates you on the latest industry standards, ensuring that your qualifications are up to date and compliant with the latest regulations.

Who Needs to Complete This Course?

 Existing SIA Door Supervisor Licence holders who are applying for renewal after 1st October 2021.

Anyone applying for a new SIA licence after 1st October 2021 who holds a Door Supervisor qualification issued before 1st April 2021.

English Language Requirement:

To enrol in this course, learners must be able to communicate effectively in English (speaking, listening, reading, and writing). Centres will verify learners’ competence in English before the course starts. Acceptable English qualifications include:

  • B2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • ESOL qualification at Level 1 (on the Ofqual register in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland)

Course Requirement

Assessment: Exam is multiple choice questions and practical.
Pre-requisite: You must hold an existing SIA Door Supervisor licence before enrolling in this course.

Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry

This practical unit covers the safe and effective physical intervention techniques required for controlling conflict and ensuring the safety of both staff and the public in challenging situations.

This unit introduces you to the broader context of working in the private security industry. It focuses on the foundational knowledge you need to understand the security landscape and your responsibilities.

Documents Required for the Top-Up Course

To enrol in the SIA Top-Up course, you will need to provide the following documents:

  • Group A Documents: Two documents from Group A (e.g., passport, biometric residence permit, or national identity card).
  • Group B Documents: If you provide one document from Group A, you will need two additional documents from Group B (e.g., utility bill, bank statement, or national insurance card).
